Trust Grounds
St Peter’s Road is a large detached Victorian house in the St Margarets Estate Conservation Area. It is a Building of Townscape Merit, located amongst a mixture of detached and semi-detached properties of varying styles.
Our proposal seeks to replace a poorly designed and proportioned side extension with a new extension that is more suited to the original house in terms of character and appearance.
The proposal also takes advantage of the wide plot by including a double garage and workshop on the other side of the house, with a self contained annex above. Both side extensions have basement space below. The height, size and volume of the extensions have been carefully considered to respond to the varying context on the two sides of the house. Large areas of glazing and lightwells allow natural light to penetrate the newly formed spaces.
Planning approval was initially refused by Richmond Council, but permission was later obtained through a successful appeal led by Michael Jones Architects.
